Once you start, you can not stop! Once I experimented with how to pickle onions, my life has changed. This is how I have felt about pickled red onions recently. I seriously don’t know what to do when we are out of them in the fridge. This pickled red onion recipe is so quick, and they add so much flavor to what ever they added to.
Right now, I can’t make a salad without these quick pickled red onions and this Honey Sriracha Vinaigrette, but there are many different ways you can add pickled red onions to your plate like avocado toast, pizza, wraps, sandwiches, cottage cheese, tuna salad, gyros, and so many other meals. I regret not knowing how to make pickled red onions years ago!
The thing I love about this easy recipe is that we usually all have these three ingredients in our pantry (sorry I can’t count the water as an ingredient), so you can always have pickled onions on hand. We go through them so quickly that I can’t even comment on how long they last because they do not last long in my refrigerator!

Ingredients for Pickled Red Onions:
- 1 onion
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 – 16 ounce mason jar
Instructions:
- Slice up onion into desired size pieces – I slice mine so that they are half of the round slice.
- Place onions in mason jar.
- Add vinegar, water, and honey.
- Shake vigorously.
- Refrigerate overnight (5-6 hours at least)
- Enjoy!
Let me know what meal or snack you add these to!
