The Thursday Three – February 20

Salad Dressing Shaker

For Us: Ever since having my mom’s homemade dressings, I can not have a salad without a homemade dressing (see my Honey Sriracha Vinaigrette post). This measuring shaker comes in handy for measuring the liquid ingredients as well as storing the dressing for the week on the counter or in the fridge. It is not spill proof for traveling, but when I want to take a salad to work, I just toss it into a ziplock bag so it won’t leak on my lunch box.

Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine

For the Kids: Fair enough. This one is for us too. I can’t say that this has been a complete fix to a very frustrating 6 months of my 3 year old sleeping on our floor, but for the last week it has helped my son sleep in his bed for the majority of the night (2 full nights and 3 with only one redirect). We paired this new sound machine with a new full bed. Each night, F and I pick out a color and sound for the night. He understands that he can only pick it out if he stays in bed until the light comes off. Tonight, he even knew that “rainbow is not an option.” I have not used the timers yet because I am utilizing it as a reward for him now, but make sure that I reiterate he can not get out of bed until it is off. Luckily, we can turn it off before we wake him up for school, and he is ecstatic he stayed in bed all night. Still crossing my fingers this continues to work.

Thought Sauce Podcast

For Me: I have mentioned before that I love a great podcast and especially one that is entertaining but also relevant to my own life. These two best friends from college (that now live across the country from one another) typically interview a guest that is notable or specializes in something relevant to being an entrepreneur and/or a working parent. The wide range of guests they have already interviewed on this podcast is amazing. I love the natural conversation that occurs and entertains me as I fold laundry. I now never have enough laundry!
